UK and EdR officials gathered on Aug. 20 to tout the 500 new jobs and $760,000 in state and local taxes created by the construction of its first residence hall to be built on campus since 2005. The 600-bed, $28 million residence hall located on the old Haggin Field is due to open next fall for honors students. It was designed by Sherman Carter Barnart and is being built by Messer Construction Co.
If the second phase of the multi-phase project is approved construction jobs would increase to 2,900 and $4 million in state and local taxes.
