This multi-award-winning, 20,000 sf building is a one-story steel frame structure containing sterile manufacturing, QA/QC labs, manufacturing offices, toilet/locker facilities, and warehouse space. Planned for future expansion, the facility is designed to accommodate building expansions that may include administration offices areas, complete laboratories and additional sterile manufacturing.
The facility is unique among others worldwide as it is the first pharmaceutical manufacturing facility to produce cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic drugs in the same room at the same time. In addition, the project was awarded the 2006 ABC of Kentuckiana Award of Excellence and the 2006 AGC “Build Kentucky” award.
Design/build is a project delivery method in which one entity (the design/builder) enters into a single contract with the owner to provide architectural/engineering design and construction services. The owner defines the project requirements and scope, selects the team and then their involvement is minimized. The success of the project is contingent upon the ability to select a team that will meet all of the owner’s needs.
- Single point of responsibility
- Simplified project administration for owner
- Promotes team approach
- Owner is shielded from architect/contractor disputes
- Design can be shaped to meet owner’s budget
- Final costs determined earlier
- Faster project schedule
