This award-winning project was a complete renovation and restoration of the historic 415,000 sf Ohio Judicial Center in downtown Columbus, OH. The art and Art Deco architecture are carefully integrated to create a building which proudly depicts Ohio history. The inscriptions and symbols carved in the walls and ceilings celebrate the native peoples, explorers, soldiers, presidents, jurists, and artists that shaped the State of Ohio.
In October 2000, the Ohio Building Authority entrusted Messer with the task of restoring this priceless monument and its irreplaceable artwork to its inaugural glory. Messer delivered, turning over the results in February 2004, a full two months ahead of schedule and nearly $2 million under budget.
The Ohio Judicial Center project won the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Ohio’s“Build Ohio” award for Construction Management and the AGC of America’s “Build America” award, the most prestigious construction industry award in the nation.
