(July 23, 2007)
Messer Construction Co. representatives, on behalf of the Messer Construction Foundation, presented a $25,000 grant check to the Brooklawn Child & Family Services during a staff retreat on July 23, 2007.
The grant goes directly to furnish a creative learning lab in Brooklawn’s elementary school. The lab will serve as a library, computer lab and after-school study hall space.
“As leaders of the construction process, we believe in building communities where people want to live, work, and raise their families. Messer has been building in Kentucky since the 1940s and we are proud to be vital and active members of the area,” said Mark Gillming, Messer Vice President and Louisville region leader. “Our desire is to not only impact great organizations, but to create a ripple effect throughout the larger community.”
“Messer employees have volunteered their time, talent and treasure at Brooklawn for years. We’ve seen the impact this remarkable organization has had on the lives of the children they serve. Messer is grateful to have the opportunity to serve so many with this investment.”
The Messer Construction Foundation was established by Messer Construction Co. to assist in carrying out the company’s commitment to be an involved corporate citizen. The Foundation seeks to support organizations that advance the interests of society in the areas of economic inclusion, education, and workforce development. Grants are awarded based on the following criteria: the expected return on investment to the community provided by the organization; the positive change for the organization expected from the Foundation’s investment; Messer employee engagement and individual support for the organization; Messer customer engagement and support for the organization; the investment in economic inclusion, education, and workforce development; and while not exclusive, the Foundation invests primarily in capital projects.
