Messer Construction Co. Honored with Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics

(November 21, 2007)  Louisville, KY – Messer Construction Co., one of Louisville’s largest general contractors and construction managers, has received the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics in the small business category. The award was presented by the BBB serving Louisville, Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky.

The Torch Awards recognize businesses and nonprofit organizations that commit to ethical business practices and integrity in the workplace. Nominees are judged based upon how well they advertise truthfully, sell in an upfront and ethical manner, and build relationships with customers, employees, vendors, and the community based on trust and mutual benefit.

“Presenting the Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics is the highlight of the BBB’s year,” said BBB President Charles Mattingly. “It is a real privilege for BBB to recognize and honor companies like Messer Construction Co. that have demonstrated a solid track record in earning the trust of customers and employees.”

“When I started with Messer 18 years ago, I chose this company because it was a good, honest business,” said Messer Vice President Mark Gillming. “It is very gratifying that all these years later we have maintained that high standard and are being recognized for our excellence in marketplace ethics.”

Messer commitment to superior ethical standards is captured in its mission statement: “Messer will lead the building construction process for sustained growth and accountability through professional performance creating value for our customers, a company-wide commitment to a safe work environment, ethical business practices and providing an environment where individual professional growth is the foundation for company growth.”
