Bernie began his career with Messer in 1978 after co-oping at the company while earning his degree in civil engineering at the University of Cincinnati. The first part of his career was managing large construction programs for Mercy Health, The Christ Hospital, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In 1994, Bernie was promoted to Senior Vice President in charge of business development where he focused on growing Messer through regional expansion. During this time Bernie also focused on advancing Messer as a leader in healthcare construction. In 2010, Bernie transitioned to leading relationships with corporate and health care clients, as well as Messer Development Services. Bernie is leading the $330 million dollar Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Critical Care Building Project. He is on the Norwood Board of Zoning Appeals, board member of the Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, and the Episcopal Retirement Services Affordable Living Board.
