Steve joined Messer in 1979 with a B.S. in construction management from the University of Cincinnati (UC) as well as a graduate of the UC Executive Program. His notable work for nearly 40 years includes three Build Ohio award-winning projects at University of Cincinnati Medical Center Critical Care Pavilion, UC MainStreet and Xavier University (XU) Business College. Steve’s vast experience also includes complex campus projects for Cincinnati Financial Corporation, West Chester Hospital, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Mercy Health Partners, XU, and UC. His project success led to his appointment to Vice President in 2012. In this role, Steve provided overal leadership for the Cincinnati region’s operations and performance.
His community support is evident through his participation on the Executive Board for the Allied Construction Industries, Regional & Local Boards of Junior Achievement OKI Partners, Industry Advisory Board of UC Civil, Architectural Engineering & Construction Management, and Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. Steve’s service has been recognized by several organizations including: 2012 Smart Business Magazine Pillar Award for Community Service as the Nonprofit Board Executive of the Year for his 10 years of classroom volunteerism and for chairing the board of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky chapter of Junior Achievement OKI Partners Inc. Steve also received the 2013 Junior Achievement National Gold Leadership Award. Steve supports DePaul Cristo Rey High School, Boy Scouts, Lower Price Hill Community School, Little Sisters of the Poor, Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, Mercy Franciscans St. Johns, Ronald McDonald House, and St. Elizabeth Healthcare.
