The University of Kentucky Gatton Student Center is now certified as LEED Silver. Messer Construction Co. completed the $168 million renovation and expansion in August 2018. In addition to providing multipurpose space, a 560-seat cinema and several retail food service venues, the student center features a rainwater harvesting system.

“The Gatton Student Center is one of the largest projects ever completed on UK’s campus, and to date is the largest single contract completed by Messer for the university," said Messer Vice President Mark Hill. "Our team worked tirelessly to bring this project to a successful completion, and this recent recognition is further evidence of that achievement. Congratulations to the entire project team and to the University of Kentucky for making projects like this #wildlypossible.”

Messer has delivered more than $500 million worth of work at UK. Project partners for the Gatton Student Center included Omni Architects, Perkins + Will, CMTA Consulting Engineers, CARMAN and BJFM Structural Engineers.
