Sonya Walton, Messer's vice president of economic inclusion, was named Advocate of the Year by the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council. This award honors someone who takes extraordinary initiative to promote long-term success for MBEs, as well as works toward the expansion of minority business opportunities within a corporate organization.
"I am truly honored to receive this recognition. My passion is to continue to help develop and grow high-performing minority- and women-owned businesses to both better serve our customers and grow our market share," Walton said. "A special thank you to Kendra Alexander of Bickley Innovations for nominating me for this prestigious award."
As a result of Walton's leadership, 2019 was Messer’s best year ever in terms of the dollar amount spent on supplier diversity.
