Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County Reading and St. Bernard Branches
PLCHC launched their most significant building improvement plan in the last 25 years. This programs included the long-awaited building of the two new, free-standing branches. Both projects were put on hold for multiple years. Our team remained engaged in the planning process enabling us to seamlessly get to work on the Libraries into construction once they were a go.
During preconstruction, abandoned foundations, slabs and other building components were discovered. Messer worked with the design team to reduce the impact to project cost and schedule. With a tight project budget, Messer sought out different cost saving measures that did not compromise quality. For example, our team pinpointed an alternative ceiling system that saved PLCHC approximately $20,000.
