Atrium Health Air Handling Unit Mechanical Renovations
Messer worked closely with the medical center to plan timely shut downs of the air handling units in order to replace the old ones. The phasing and planning was complex as the operating rooms were active during the entire project. The only exceptions were weekend shutdowns to tie in the new units as they were completed. Effective communication with ICUs, surgical staff, and surgical recovery staff working in critical care areas was key to project success.
Phased replacement serving 22 operating rooms and an entire wing (8 floors)
Heating hot water plant, risers for future use in H-wing
Automatic transfer switches to provide emergency power
Removal of an existing chiller system, cooling tower and energy recovery system
