2018 ABC EIC Eagle Award: University of North Carolina at Charlotte Atkins Library Infrastructure Renewal
Charlotte, NC
We Are Building
This 10,000 sf renovation of the Atkins Library took place in the heart of campus within a fully occupied library. The project included six floors of above-ceiling MEP renovation and a complete retrofit of the existing Penthouse air handling unit serving floors 5-10.
Features and Facts
Renovations on the 9th and 10th floors were completed around the rare books collection. Despite unforeseen challenges, Messer delivered this project ahead of schedule through Single Piece Flow scheduling, reducing increments of work for our field crews and coupling activities to improve performance.
This project recieved the ABC Carolinas Chapter Excellence in Construction (EIC) "Eagle" Award.
