Aisin Automotive Casting

New Manufacturing Facility and Expansion - Aisin Automotive Casting, Inc.

Clinton, TN

Details

  • Assignment: Design-Build Construction Manager
  • Architect: Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon

Description

Aisin needed to build a new manufacturing facility to keep up with the increased demand. Phase I is a 260,000 sf manufacturing facility, pre-engineered metal building with foundations for die-cast machines, anodizing equipment and conveyor trenches. Phase II is a 237,000 sf expansion to existing facility.

Features

  • Phase I was a fast-track design/build project with substantial completion scheduled for approximately seven months from ground breaking.
  • This tight schedule could only be met through the effective use of Lean Construction tools. Messer’s ability to develop an effective Reverse Phase Schedule enabled us to meet this challenging schedule.
  • Phase I was occupied throughout construction of Phase II. A divider wall was used to separate Phase I so it could continue daily operations without interruption from construction activities.
