Description

15,100 sf renovation and addition of an active library. The addition consisted of three stories that infilled an existing overhang of the building, adding archive space, study space, and office space. The renovation consisted of two phases creating a staff break room and additional archive space.

Features

  • Messer carefully scheduled deliveries to take place before the start of classes each day, ensuring materials were delivered without disrupting student traffic.
  • To minimize noise disruptions during the library renovation, Messer installed insulated barriers between the work area and classrooms. Since maintaining a quiet environment was challenging, all work was communicated in advance, ensuring staff and students could prepare accordingly.
  • The renovation was successfully carried out in an occupied building and along a main sidewalk, with minimal disruption to students and staff.
  • This project included a new archive space with temperature and humidity controls and a clean agent fire suppression system to preserve the archive.
