Lexington, KY

Details

  • Assignment: Construction Manager
  • Architect: K. Norman Berry Associates
  • Mechanical Engineer: KFI Engineers
  • Structural Engineer: Brown + Kubican, PSC
  • Civil Engineer: Element Design

Description

This project involves the renovation of a four-story historic academic building and the addition of a four-story, 6,100 sq. ft. building—housing five classrooms, two computer labs, three faculty offices, restrooms, a large auditorium, a seminar room, a whitebox studio, and mechanical spaces for the new College of Communication and Information. The renovation includes a new foam roof, restoration of existing brick and ADA upgrades to ensure full accessibility.

Features

  • The building is in the middle of an active campus with a very tight site, which required Messer to prepare an efficient safety and logistics plan to direct foot traffic safely around the project site without disrupting campus or construction operations.
  • With support from Messer’s in-house Virtual Design and Construction team and Building Systems Group, we successfully integrated new utilities with existing underground utilities.
