The Next Phase of Construction for University Station
October 3, 2019

University Station cotinues to grow, and the next phase of the mixed-use development is underway. The owners of University Station—including Messer Development Company and CTI—are adding another phase of student housing to their mixed-use development adjacent to Xavier University. The new four-story housing complex will have 49 units with 128 beds and contain a unit mix ranging from efficiencies up to five bedrooms.
The building will be located next to, and leverage the amenities of, the existing 480 beds that were completed in 2014. The project is also neighboring the new Health United Building (HUB) that Xavier University built in partnership with Tri-Health.
“We’re proud to assist in fulfilling the housing needs of the university and further Messer’s outstanding, longtime relationship with Xavier,” said Messer Development Vice President Brian Doyle. “We’re excited to kick-start additional development at the site and continue the revitalization in the community that began in 2013.”
The apartments are designed to provide a great living experience for the student residents. Modern WiFi and fiberoptic technology infrastructure runs throughout the building, all units feature quality finishes, all bedrooms have their own bathrooms, and several of the units have balconies with views of Xavier’s campus.
“Leasing on the existing building has been strong and there has been tremendous demand for additional student housing,” said Ellen Mayleben, asset manager for the property.
Terrex Development and Construction is leading the project’s development and Messer Construction Co. is the design-builder in partnership with M&A Architects.
Construction started in August and is slated for substantial completion in July 2020. Uptown Rentals began renting the units last month in preparation for the 2020-2021 school year.
