Description

Ensemble Theatre is listed as one of the attractions that help Cincinnati rank No. 8 on New York Times' "Top 52 Cities to Visit" (click and scroll to No. 8)

Ensemble Theatre opened its doors in 1986, and has been a staple to the Over-the-Rhine cultural scene ever since. The expansion and renovation project allows Ensemble to continue their mission as a thriving urban arts community. This complex houses rehearsal facilities, conference rooms, and administrative offices.

Messer delivered on this project due to our experience with complex, historic renovations in urban areas.

Features

  • Renovation of an 28,740 sf historic building.
  • Three-story expansion of theatre.
  • Separate gas, water and electric feeds from multiple buildings had to be merged to allow for distribution to all four buildings.
  • Extensive planning and coordination were required to ensure a safe and successful completion within the occupied theatre.
  • The existing buildings suffered weather and foundation damage over the years. These conditions were covered by plaster and required coordination to secure them and maintain the architectural desire to leave them exposed.
