Description

The project involves the construction of a new 82,000 sq. ft. building and the renovation of two existing buildings. Renovations added nursing labs with simulation rooms and student organization spaces. The new building features a three-story open atrium, a library, faculty offices, and spaces for computer, career, financial, and tutoring services. It also includes health science labs, mechatronics labs, general classrooms, and student collaboration areas. Additionally, three new parking lots were created, providing 620 spaces.

Features

  • The project includes numerous sustainable features, such as geothermal heating and cooling systems.
  • Flow Scheduling was utilized to break the project into similarly sized areas and determine the best sequences, allowing for faster dry-in of critical areas.
  • Through the use of Value Analysis, Messer was able to eliminate one of two elevators by increasing size of planned “passenger” elevator to accommodate large equipment for labs located on upper levels of the building.
